New and Improved!
Hello everyone and welcome back! Today, we will be discussing the "He Gets Us" Advertisements, AI, and The "Chocolate Factory". All that and more on Tuesday Talks With Titus!
So first, let's start with "He Gets Us". If you didn't already know, advertisements were shown at the Super Bowl that had a ton of Christians debating over whether the "He Gets Us" campaign was Biblically correct or not. Which is it? Let's find out together. (At this point in the video version, I will play the ad that was at the Super Bowl.)
So at first, the message seems clear but as it continues, we see what the true message of the ad is. As the video puts it, "He didn't hate; He washed feet." now while this may not be the message that was intended, it seems like the message is we are not to judge and we are to only love. While hateful judging is wrong when one cares about someone they lovingly call out the sin that needs to be called out. The biggest thing to note is Jesus gets everything about us, but He rejects our sinful nature as we should strive to do!
Since it is the Easter season, I think we need to touch on what this week's about. Jesus was sent to live a perfect life living without sin and still died the most brutal death imaginable. If you go to a church, this week you will hear a lot about the story of the cross. So instead, I want to take a look at something that many people have heard of but don't fully understand. His name is jesus. This "jesus" is someone not a lot of people know they've heard of. He is the one who loves you and does not judge sin; he hates anyone who judges. He wants us to say nothing about sin; he wants us to stay just the way we are. "He didn't Hate, he washed feet!" This lowercase "jesus" doesn't exist, but many believe that's the same Jesus we worship, but it shouldn't be. Do you want proof this "jesus" exists in people's minds? Romans 1:21 says, "For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things." This describes what happens when we replace the true personhood of God with something fake, something that satisfies our fleshly desires instead of our spiritual ears! It is similar to what we discussed in the previous episode: We want the things that scratch our itchy ears, not the things that wake us up... But, when we go towards the things that please us, we become fools. When we don't honor God, we become futile in our thinking, meaning, useless in our thinking because without God how are we supposed to have wisdom?! See, we can say we are wise all we want, but when we don't have the true wisdom of God, we are fools!
Alright, it's time we discuss the elephant in the digital room. You probably noticed this episode is different from what we've done in the past. The reason is simple: I did some thinking and praying and decided what I needed to do to stand out as a creator was to respond to things that are currently going on in the world and how we are to deal with them as Christians! For the time being, I will stay away from politics because most things having to do with that are personal convictions. Don't leave just yet! It's the same podcast, just more related to current events which is what I have wanted to do.
Don't you just hate scams? When you think you're getting a good deal only to wake up and smell the... jellybean? That's right, the Wonka "Experience"! I know I am behind on this story so please excuse that, but this is a good example of deception and how easy it is to be deceived. If you haven't seen anything about it, I encourage you to look up the "Wonka Scotland experience". With the help of AI (which we will touch on next) and realistic descriptions, they convinced hundreds of people to buy tickets and the only thing that was somewhat exciting was a single jellybean handed out to each kid and a small bounce house! Ouch! I've been in a scam situation and they are horrible! It just shows how even stretching the truth a little will hurt you and others around you. Not only is it not ethical to lie, it's an abomination to the Lord (Proverbs 12:22-28).
Lastly, I wanted to touch on AI. Oh yes! The big debate. If you don't already know, here is a description of what AI is according to Wikipedia: "Artificial intelligence, in its broadest sense, is intelligence exhibited by machines, particularly computer systems, as opposed to the natural intelligence of living beings." I want to say that I think if it is used correctly, AI can be an amazing thing... But it also can get messy! I read about a pastor who had AI write his whole sermon based on the topic... When we rely on things that have no soul to interpret the Bible, that just opens a door for Satan to sneak fake theology and out-of-context verses! Isaiah 55:8 says, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD." We can't turn to our creation to gain wisdom! God is the only fully flawless intelligence we can rely on! Leigh-Allyn Baker said this in an interview, "I used to say 'I wish life came with an instruction manual!' But now I know it does! It's the Bible! It tells us everything about how we should live!" So how can we trust something made by man to tell us how to live? We can't! While AI has its uses, it should not be our source of knowledge.
